What Distinguishes Medbirds?

Medbirds, a division of Medical Care International, Inc., is distinguished by its client focus, quality assurance guarantee, industry expertise and its combined global reach and local presence in both the U.S. and overseas.  Other distinguishing factors include:
  • Medbirds is founded and managed by healthcare professionals;
  • Medbirds partners only with hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission International;
  • Medbirds endorses and supports the American Medical Association’s Guidelines for Medical Tourism;
  • Medbirds employs medically trained staff.  You are not dealing with a travel agency. You are dealing with medical professionals that are able to leverage their years of medical training to help you.
  • Medbirds takes care of everything from start to finish, including assistance with passport applications, travel arrangements, scheduling with the hospital, airport pick-up and private car transportation; and 24/7 support in both the U.S. and overseas.

Do You Give Medical Opinions and Advice?

No.  Medbirds is not a healthcare provider and thus we cannot offer medical advice ourselves.

How Can I Reach Medbirds When I Am Abroad?

All clients can reach us or our Director of Operations 24/7.

What Are Your Hours of Operation?

At Medbirds, a company executive is available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you are traveling abroad for your medical procedure, you will always be able to contact us for assistance.

Do You Provide Medical Tourism Services To Other Destinations?

Currently Medbirds does not provide medical tourism services to destinations other than Thailand and India.

Cost is the big reason. Today, forty-seven million Americans are uninsured.  The cost of treatment for medical or surgical procedures in the U.S. is often prohibitive and far beyond the average person’s ability to pay for it.  Many people who need help put off seeking it because they simply cannot afford it.  Many surgical procedures (i.e. heart bypass, joint replacement, spinal disc repair, Lasik eye surgery, Lapband weight reduction surgery) cost 50% to 90% less abroad. Those huge savings can make the cost of even major medical care affordable for anyone forced to pay out of pocket for treatment.  That includes:

?

Americans without health insurance;

?

Someone whose insurance has such large deductible and co-pay amounts that out-of-pocket expenses for domestic surgery would exceed the entire cost (medical plus travel) of treatment abroad. The cost differences are so tremendous, that this is often the case;

?

People seeking care (i.e. costly dental work or cosmetic surgery) not covered by insurance;

?

Citizens of countries with national healthcare systems requiring  a six- to 12-month wait for non-emergency surgery. That's a long time to wait for someone with a painful condition like a herniated back disc, making the low cost of immediate surgery abroad a compelling option.
